The Christmas season is rapidly approaching, so as is our custom here at CPC, we remember children in need in our community. The Gail Sellers Memorial Angel Tree will be providing gifts for 25 children, as well as $25 Wal-Mart gift cards for the Children’s Hope Alliance, and $25 Food Lion gift cards for Big Brothers/Big Sisters.
Big Brothers/Big Sisters operates under the belief that inherent in every child is the ability to succeed and thrive in life. As the nation’s largest donor- and volunteer-supported mentoring network, Big Brothers/ Big Sisters makes meaningful, monitored matches between adult volunteers (“Bigs”) and children (“Littles”), ages 6 through 18, in communities across the country, developing positive relationships that have a direct and lasting effect on the lives of young people. Since 1977, BB/BS Services has served more than 20,000 children in Forsyth and Davie Counties.
The Children’s Hope Alliance has a long history of child advocacy and welfare dating back over 130 years. The programs and services that it provides create hope for hurting children and families in three ways: healing the hurt, providing a safe home, and encouraging a healthy start.
The Angel and the Gift Card Trees will be up in the Atrium and online on November 9. The angels on the trees this year are ones that Gail Sellers created. Online angels can be accessed from the church’s website and there will be an angel template that can be downloaded and attached to your gifts.
When a gift angel or gift card angel is taken from the tree, please sign in on the sheets provided at each table so the team will have a record. You are not expected to purchase every item listed; use the list as a guide for your purchase/s.
Wrapped and labeled gifts and the gift cards will be due at the church by Sunday, November 30.
Cash donations may be made to the Gail Sellers Memorial Angel Tree Fund.
